Hi I love your site! I have a Bertram 28 but one of the few made in 1982 that were purchased by OMC converted by OMC in to an outboard boat.
I purchased the boat about 3 years ago in Ft. Lauderdale and shipped it with out engines to Puerto Rico . We installed twin Yamaha 250.
Under ideal circumstances (clean bottom, low fuel and water...) she hits 40 knots at 5200 RPM. Running 19 pitch salt water series Yamaha prop.
Seas in Puerto Rico tend to be very rough. We do not have large protect bay areas. I have been boating all my life and I can say that for it's size and even comparing to larger boats, this is one of the best navigating and dry boats I have ever been on. Also for 28 feet it is very comfortable inside. I do not understand many reviews that say this boat is only for fishing and not good for the family. Unless you compare it to a cruiser I think this boat is much more comfortable inside as compared to other 28 footers especially if you compare it to other 28' outboard boats.
